Naked Realities gathers selections from 35 years of Ravarour's photography. The images contain moments of intimacy as well as formal studies of the male body beginning in 1978. As such, Ravarour deserves to be viewed as a photography pioneer in Robert Mapplethorpe's cultural vein (although aesthetically Ravarour's photos belong to a looser style).
The personal nature of these images --some shocking, some tender-- strike a balance with his original aim: to spread ideas of sexual freedom and personal equality.
